Ford F-250 Super Duty vs. Ram 2500

The Ford F-250 Super Duty Dominates the Competition

Here in New Braunfels, when drivers who like heavy duty pickup trucks are looking for their next new vehicle, they turn to us here at Bluebonnet Motors, and our collection of the Ford F-250 Super Duty.

The Ford F-250 Super Duty is the second truck in the F-Series line, falling in between the popular F-150 and the larger F-350. It's a perfect vehicle for work, but it's also great as a daily vehicle. For Texas drivers who know quality pickup trucks when they see them, there is no better heavy duty machine than the F-250.

The 2017 Ford F-250 is available in three cab styles, multiple trim levels, and a few different bed lengths. Drivers can customize their truck in a number of ways, including choosing between two powerful engines, until they get the perfect vehicle for their needs.

The 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty vs. the 2017 Ram 2500

As great as we think the Ford F-250 Super Duty is, we also understand that there are a few other heavy duty trucks out there that you might be considering. If you're thinking about either the F-250 or the Ram 2500, read on. We've compared these two popular, workhorse, pickup trucks side by side to see how they stack up. As you can see from the research we've uncovered, both trucks may have a lot to offer, but, the Ford comes out ahead in several areas.

  • Size and space. The Ford F-250 Super Duty offers measures larger than the Ram 2500. In fact, it's taller, longer, has a larger wheelbase, and is wider than the Ram. What this translates to for you is more legroom and headroom, for you and your passengers. For example, the crew cab style Ford F-250 Super Duty gives you more than 43 inches of legroom in both the front and backseat. Meanwhile, the crew cab Ram 2500 averages around 40 inches for legroom.
  • Power. Both of these trucks come in a variety of powertrains and performance ratings. However, the Ford F-250 is more powerful. Both the standard V8 and the optional diesel engine are more powerful in the F-250, with the diesel offering 440 horsepower. The Ram 2500 diesel, on the other hand, is rated for only 370 horsepower.
  • Utility. The Ford F-250 Super Duty also has a more capable towing capacity than the Ram 2500. The Ford tops out at 18,600 pounds for towing, while the Ram has a max of 17,980 pounds. Also, the Ford F-250 Super Duty can handle more weight in its bed, with a maximum hauling capacity of 4,200 pounds, compared to the Ram 2500 maximum of 3,990 pounds.
  • Features. Both the Ram 2500 and the Ford F-250 Super Duty offer entry-level trims that make for perfect work trucks. Each one comes with terrific features to help with your daily tasks, and you can add more as you move up in trim levels. However, the Ford F-250 Super Duty starts out with more features right out of the gate than the Ram 2500. Some features, including a removable locking tailgate with tailgate lift assist, and a 2.5-inch trailer hitch receiver with 2-inch insert, are standard on every Ford F-250 Super Duty, but only available on upper trims or as an add-on for the Ram 2500.
