The New Ford EcoSport Makes Joins the Roads in the United States

More than a year ago Ford announced that it would be bringing the Ford EcoSport to North America. Last week, that promise came true when the automaker began selling the new subcompact crossover at dealerships across America.

The move is potentially a smart one for Ford. Sales of subcompact SUVs and crossovers grew significant in 2017, making it a prime time to bring the EcoSport to American shores. Ford understandably has high hopes for the EcoSport which has enjoyed significant success overseas ever since it was introduced to South American roads in 2003.

The North American version of the EcoSport comes in four trims offering a variety of valuable features. These include the S, SE, SES and Titanium trims. The four trims will make use of two powertrain options. The standard engine will be a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost engine. The second powertrain option will offer a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that's capable of four-wheel drive. Both powertrains will make use of a six-speed automatic transmission.
